03/10: Free Mulch!
One thing that many people may not be aware of is that many cities offer free mulch!!! Thats right, for example where I live they take the tree trimmings and shred it, then offer it for free to the residents of our city at the refuse recycle center. I use this material for my compost bin to increase the amount of compost I can make for fertilizing my lawn and garden beds. This is much cheaper than buying commercial fertilizers I might add... remember its free :O) Also use this mulch in your garden beds to help keep your garden beds from drying out, saving on water bills too!
Think about how much a cup of coffee costs when purchased already made at either a convenience store or even more costly at a coffee shop. I understand that these places are convenient and coffee is to some, such as myself, their lifes blood, however, this can add up quick over time.
There is a cheaper alternative for fresh coffee that in reality requires less of your time than pulling into that coffe shop or corner store. For the mere cost of 4 cups of coffee at a coffe shop you can find a coffee maker that has an auto program feature built in. Get one of these program it to go off 5 minutes before you need your coffee in the morning and your ready to go.
If your on the go and like more than just one cup, just reach back in that old cupboard and get that old thermos out. Works great and keeps your coffee hot for later.

02/19: Bottle your own water.
Lets face it drinking water is healthy and something we need on a daily basis. Buying bottled water can be expensive, and wastefull with all the bottles thrown away. If you just don't like the taste of tap their are lots of great water filter systems out there; from those elaborate in house filter systems to more simple alternatives such as those that attach to your faucet, a filtering pitcher, even a filtering water bottle! Bottling your own water can be a healthy thrifty and environmentally sound practice.
